Amish Friendship Bread (lower Fat)

Total Time: 1 hr 30 mins Preparation Time: 30 mins Cook Time: 1 hr

Ingredients

  • 1 cup amish starter
  • 3/4 cup applesauce
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 3 egg whites
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 2 (5 ounce) packages vanilla instant pudding mix (you can change the flavor of the recipe by changing the flavor of pudding)
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons cinnamon

Recipe

  • 1 1. preheat oven to 325 degrees.
  • 2 2. mix bread ingredients in a non-metal bowl. do not use any metal implements to mix the batter.
  • 3 3. grease 2 large loaf pans and dust them with 1/2 the cinnamon/sugar mixture.
  • 4 4. pour the batter evenly into the pans and sprinkle with the remaining sugar/cinnamon mixture.
  • 5 5. bake for 1 hour. cool until the bread loosens from the pan, about 10 minutes.
