Chocolate Malted Cookies

- 1 cup butter flavor shortening
- 1 1/4 cups brown sugar, packed
- 1/2 cup instant malted milk powder
- 2 tablespoons chocolate syrup
- 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
- 1 egg
- 2 cups all-purpose flour (or 1 cup all-purpose flour plus 1 1/4 cup freshly ground soft wheat flour or 1 cup oat flour)
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 1/2 cups semisweet chocolate chunks
- 1 cup milk chocolate chips
Recipe
- 1 in a large mixing bowl, beat the shortening, brown sugar, malted milk powder, chocolate syrup and vanilla for 2 minutes.
- 2 add egg.
- 3 combine the flour, baking soda and salt; gradually add to creamed mixture, mixing well after each addition.
- 4 stir in chocolate chunks and chips.
- 5 shape into 2-in. balls; place 3 inches apart on ungreased baking sheets.
- 6 bake at 375 for 12-14 minutes or until golden brown.
- 7 cool for 2 minutes before removing to a wire rack.
- 8 yield: about 1-1/2 dozen.
