Chicken (or Turkey) A La King

Total Time: 20 mins Preparation Time: 10 mins Cook Time: 10 mins

Ingredients

  • Servings: 4
  • 6 teaspoons butter or 6 teaspoons margarine
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 3/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/8 teaspoon pepper
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 teaspoon instant bouillon granules
  • 1 (4 ounce) can mushrooms, stems and pieces, drained
  • 1/4 cup chopped pimiento
  • 2 cups cubed cooked chicken or 2 cups cubed cooked turkey
  • 1 (15 ounce) can peas
  • toast points or toasted english muffins or biscuit

Recipe

  • 1 for sauce, melt butter or margarine in a large saucepan.
  • 2 stir in flour, salt, and pepper.
  • 3 add the milk, water and bouillon all at once.
  • 4 cook and stir over medium heat until thick and bubbly.
  • 5 stir in the chicken or turkey, mushrooms, peas and pimiento.
  • 6 continue to stir and cook until sauce bubbles again.
  • 7 serve over toast points, english muffins or biscuits.
